Luminos.AI is a Washington, D.C.-based software company that helps legal, governance, and data science teams assess, test, and document the legal and regulatory risk of AI systems. It was spun out of Luminos.Law, a boutique AI-specialty law firm co-founded by Andrew Burt, and its distinguishing feature is the pairing of software with legal expertise: assessments and documentation can be generated under attorney-client privilege, and its testing logic is grounded in legal precedent rather than purely statistical bias metrics. The platform offers continuous evaluations across classical, generative, and agentic AI, automated compliance documentation, drift and behavior monitors, and a law-library product (developed with ZwillGen) that maps tests to obligations spanning US state AI laws and the EU AI Act. Luminos targets organizations that must deploy AI while keeping a defensible legal record, serving legal, privacy, compliance, product, and security stakeholders. It positions itself less as an MLOps tool and more as a governance and legal-defensibility layer, automating the approval, testing, and evidence workflows that in-house counsel and AI governance teams would otherwise handle manually.
