End-to-end AI security and governance platform to discover, monitor, red-team and prove enterprise AI
Robust Intelligence
AI Firewall and automated model validation to secure AI from build to production
What Robust Intelligence does
Robust Intelligence pioneered the concept of an 'AI Firewall,' a purpose-built platform that validates, stress-tests, and protects AI models from development through production, and is now part of Cisco. Its two core capabilities are algorithmic red teaming, which automatically probes models for vulnerabilities and failure modes, and a runtime AI Firewall that inspects inputs and outputs to block prompt injection, jailbreaks, data leakage, personally identifiable information exposure, and unsafe or off-policy responses. The platform maps risks to industry frameworks such as OWASP for LLMs and MITRE ATLAS, and provides continuous, automated assessment so teams can validate models before deployment and monitor them in production. Co-founded in 2019/2021 by Harvard professor Yaron Singer and Kojin Oshiba, the company raised roughly $44M and was valued above $200M before Cisco acquired it in 2024 for a reported ~$400M. Its technology became foundational to Cisco AI Defense and Cisco Foundation AI, integrated into the Cisco Security Cloud to defend against prompt injection, data poisoning, jailbreaking, and unintended model behavior. Robust Intelligence is aimed at security and ML risk teams at larger enterprises that want both proactive adversarial testing and inline runtime protection standardized against recognized AI-security taxonomies.
Key capabilities
- AI Firewall runtime input/output protection
- Algorithmic red teaming
- Automated model validation and stress-testing
- Prompt-injection and jailbreak defense
- OWASP LLM and MITRE ATLAS mapping
- Continuous production monitoring
Best for
Enterprise security and ML risk teams wanting adversarial testing plus runtime protection mapped to AI-security standards
Limitations
Absorbed into Cisco, so it is increasingly delivered as Cisco AI Defense rather than a standalone product; enterprise-oriented, less accessible to small teams
Framework coverage
| Framework | Type | Supported |
